Breaking bad habits is not simple because of their deep roots. Bad habits are not formed overnight, sometimes they are shaped by ancestral trauma, emotional or physical abuse, inner child bullying, inherited mental illness, etc. There are many reasons why they form to begin with, so it isnt simply addressing the habit but the why, and when did it start? What is at the root?
If a tree is standing in your way, and you cut the tree but leave the roots, well.... the tree is still there.... and you could still stumble over it.
I'm learning that I have to be patient with myself and bad habits because removing roots isnt a menial process but a methodical one that takes time and deep introspection.
Be gentle with yourself during this process. Just a reminder.
