Just One More Moment

I'm sorry I didn't take every minute
in every moment I was given
to tell you I love you
I'm sorry for all of the could, and should haves
that I didn't take the time to do
I'd give the world to have that time back with you
I wouldn't waste it
I wouldn't take it for granted
I'd take advantage of the time we had together
I'd hold your hand forever
I'd do better.....I promise
To be honest
I just never really thought this day would come
Sounds naive right
Everybody knows that people die
Yet no one can tell me why it has to be so hard
Why it leaves the deepest scar
on the ones left behind
Why the time that goes by
has to move at such a slow pace
Why it's so difficult to face
having the one you love be replaced
by an empty space in your heart
that cannot be filled
No matter how hard you try
Why no amount of time that goes by
seems to make it any better
Sometimes I'd rather have been the one to go
than the one to stay
Because seeing you struggle to breathe
Watching you slowly drift away
Was the hardest day of my life
I didn't want you to go
Even though it was inevitable
I wanted just one more hug
One more moment to be embraced by the Love
I had known all my life
Just one more look in the eyes
of the woman who raised me
The beautiful soul that gave me breath
Just one more kiss before you left
One more "I love you"
before you were gone
Now all I can do is long
for that day to come
Where I can share that "one more moment" for an eternity
