Five Months and Five Days

It’s been 5 months and 5 days
Since I last saw you breathing
Laid my head on your chest
To listen to your heart beating
The sound fading….
I remember pleading with God
Not to let you go
Clinging to hope
For a miracle
Although I know
He did all He could I suppose
It still hurts though
Walking into the door
And not seeing your face
Not hearing you ask about my day
Trying to find anything to fill that space
This place just feels so empty without you
Just walls and a room
I miss everything about you
Your laughter echoing through the halls
Your long pause between sentences
The calls I made to you throughout the day
Just to ask you if you were doing okay
The way you’d help get me ready for work
So I wouldn’t be late
It’s still hard to face
The fact that you are gone
The long days
Just seem that much longer
They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
But I don’t always feel that way
Although I do my best to smile and seize the day
To live happily in your name
It’s not easy
Believe me…..
A daughter needs her Mommy
It’s a bond irreplaceable….
Even in death,
A Mothers Love is unbreakable
I just don’t know how to let go
How to stand on my own without you
Because I never tried to
I’m too afraid I’ll fall
I just want to make you proud is all
Of the little girl you raised into a woman
I want to make it to Heaven and see you again
I just pray that God gives me the strength
To continue on until I can….
I miss you My Sweet Mommy,
No matter how long it’s been or ever will be
It’ll always be like yesterday to me
When your soul was released
And you took your last breath
To Live with the Lord in Peace
I wept….
