Natural Hair....
It's been a process to love you
All these magazines and TV screens have taught me not to
They said Beauty is hair that's long and straight
So I'd break your precious ends with heat
In a sad attempt to deplete every curl
with the hopes that I would fit in
That maybe then the world
would call me beautiful too
For what I put you through, I apologize.
I let the lies take root and disguise the truth....
The truth that you.... are stunning.
And now I'm loving
the way you adorn my face like a Lion's mane
I embrace that it cannot be tamed
and now the bigger it gets, so does the smile on my face
When I look in the mirror now I say....
"Hey there lovely, today is your day!"
