The Earth Speaks

As I look around
at the Earth around me
The ground beneath my feet
It speaks
The birds surround me
and carefully I listen
So sweet is their song
Yet it longs for the Love that's gone missing
The Peace that use to exist
The Respect for Mother Nature and her Children
I feel the wind softly kiss my cheek
a tear falls
I fall to my knees
And I call "when did it come to this?"
My heart hurts, my soul bleeds
for those neglected
Empathy for those who are rejected
for their beliefs
When did we become so disconnected?
There's such a lack of compassion
A lack of action when it comes to Kindness
Only concerned with self and not others
That's blindness
Such disrespect without regret
There's been a disconnect
How soon we forget whats important
Though the Vision is blurred
and the dream a bit distorted
I can still see it there
I gotta believe we still care
I know it cant be just me
out there praying for world peace
In a time of such hatred
Might sound crazy to some
but to me its second nature
"You may say I'm a dreamer
but I'm not the only one..."
So as I sit here in aspiration
Head adjacent to the Sun
in all its Glory
Humbled by the beauty and Pain
that is the Earth's story
The Sunlight hits my face
and I am reminded of the time that
I have left to make a change
And I Will....
