Idolizing Sin

You can't let the subject of sin become the ruler of your life instead of Jesus.

If I am only ever focused on not sinning, because I want so desperately not to displease God, have I not then, made Sin itself an idol?

If I allow myself to be more concerned with whether or not I, by my own efforts, can please God, then have I not lost sight of God Himself?
"Apart from Him, we are capable of nothing, but by being empowered by the Holy Spirit, we're capable of anything." - Christopher Perrin

The Word says: "Yes, I (Jesus) am the vine; you are the branches. Those who abide in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing."

So why do we keep thinking that we can be the Vine? Letting the concern that we might sin, be at the forefront of our thoughts instead of Jesus? Why do we abide in ourselves instead of abiding in Him and in the Love of what He did for us on the Cross?

Stop allowing sin to take the place of Jesus. Refocus your attentions on Him, and you'll begin to sin less not out of obligation, relying on yourself; but because you want to, because you abide in Him.

Let Him abide in your heart and He will transform it. Let Him abide in your mind, and He will renew it. Abide in Him in all things and sin overtime loses its power over you. The temptations become less and less effective. Satan's illusions can't hold a candle to God's Truth. Align yourself with God's Truth and the devil will flee from you.
